This is where we sample 10 beers from 10 different breweries and rate them as we go. Usually the blogging get worse towards the end of the event…
It’s also really hard work!
Beer 1: Barley Island Damien a Belgian Golden Strong.
8.4 % nice color good taste. Slight alcohol taste, smooth finish, very clean. Distribution area Indiana.
Beer 2: Oak Barrel Brewing Small brewery in Greenwood, Indiana Amber. Very thick nice red amber ale. Interesting artwork on bottle – historic version of local Soldiers ans Sailors Monument on this beer.
Beer 3: Flat 12 Beirworks Pouges Run Porter – Dark, almost black; fine bubbles. Porter is not my favorite, but this was good!
Beer 4: Triton Brewery – Magnificent Amber – Dark and hoppy, smokey taste almost like coffee, very yummy. Patagonian malt gives more hoppy flavor. Not in Chicago but going there soon!
Beer 5: Three Floyds – Arctic Panzer Wolf – Imperial IPA, front hopped taste but not over bitter; last hops Bravo and Simcoe with massive dry hopping. 9% alcohol. They focus on big beers but like the crazy shit!
Beer 6: New Belgium – Shift Pale Lager dry pilsner, a little hoppy. We’ve had this for a while.
Beer 7: Ram – Russian Imperial Stout – Local brewery, nice dark, chocolatey good stout. . Ramageddon series- all these beers will be best to drink at the end of the Mayan calendar Dec. 21, 2012. APV 8.2.
Beer 8: Boulder Beer – Hazed and Infused. We all know this one where I’m from. What’s more important, he has a Kobalt Beer opener that is mucho cool. Got to get one. Chicken Dan was great!
Beer 9: Karl Strouss – Wreck Alley Imperial Stout – Thick, smooth not too much over the top. Apv 9.5 Diluted on purpose to make it less viscous.
Beer 10: Schlafly – American IPA – Dry hopped nice beer available in our area. Very nice smooth beer. Late hopped for a nice non-bitter flavor.
It was fun. I’m already looking forward to next year!
Laissaz les bon temps rouler!
