DuClaw Brewing is a small brewpub chain in the Baltimore area. They have a fairly large selection of brews – 10 at the Arundel Mills store Wednesday night. I tasted several and they are pretty good. They have a lot of imagination in their brews and even more in the names of the brews. The food is trendy mall restaurant style that is very well done if you like that sort of thing. I snicker when I see Kobe beef, but some people really look for that kind of special food.
The one large problem here is the service, or lack thereof. I have visited this location several times. The tables are not crisply bused after each set of patrons, and it seems to take a long time to order and get served. Even at the bar, they are nice and well informed, just slow. It might just be a symptom of always having lots of customers and being either overwhelmed or just nonchalant about it.
I’m not a big fan of mall brewpubs, but the beer and food are good here, so you can put this on your list at the top if you are going to the mall to finish your Christmas shopping.
